
How to send money overseas
- Complete and sign the “Sending a payment abroad” form, available at your local Post Office (our Terms and Conditions are on the back)
- Specify the currency you want the payment to be received in
- Clearly detail the beneficiary’s name and bank account details (including IBAN - International Bank Account Number and BIC - Bank Identifier Code)
- Check that the information you have provided is correct and that all fields on the form have been completed in full
- Bring photographic ID with you
- Pay the Transaction Fee, along with the funds to be sent, in cash, to the counter clerk
- You will be issued a copy of the “Sending a payment abroad” form as your receipt; this includes a copy of our Terms & Conditions

There is a maximum threshold of £6,000 per transaction.
How quickly will the payment reach the beneficiary’s bank account?
Guernsey Post, using a chosen provider, will process the payment 3 days after receipt of the funds. The transfer itself normally takes an additional 48 hours to reach the recipient’s bank account**.

* Third party financial institutions involved in the routing of the payment may levy their own charges. Guernsey Post has no control over these charges and is not liable to pay them. Any “Agent charges” levied will be deducted from the funds sent.
** The speed with which the payment reaches the recipient’s bank account may be dependant upon other financial institutions involved in the routing of the payment. Guernsey Post has no control over how long third party financial institutions take to process the transfer and cannot be held responsible for any delay in the payment reaching the recipient's account.
